Must be Something in the Water

You know, writing blog posts used to be as easy as falling down. And now, when I think about getting things going again, I feel like I need to start every post with an apology. Sorry, I don't post like I used to, sorry I haven't finished book 3, sorry that I haven't done as many shows, as much art, enough bookmarks...sorry that I forgot my business cards that one time, that I didn't order enough of book 1, forgot what part of the body greaves go on (first one to find that in the books gets a prize), messed up the indent in book 2...existential dread...etc, etc, etc...

Well, I recently received some excellent advice. The last 2 years actually didn't happen. Therefore, I'm still kicking it like a rockstar and planning on publishing book 3 promptly and, obviously, have nothing to apologize for. Which, in all fairness, I KNOW I don't have to apologize for. But, here we are. Let me and my anxiety have our moment.

SO! Let me clear a few things up straight away. Yes, I am still alive. Yes, The Firebird Chronicles will have its third installment this year. YES, my plan is still to be a bestselling author and ride a magical unicorn to work (MAGICAL unicorn, not just any unicorn).

This year has been a rollercoaster of emotions, with the highs and the lows and the loop-d'-loops that leave us feeling dizzy. Let's skip over the lows. Those can just go into the dumpster-fire that is the last two years. Whoosh. Let's rap about some highs!

Weddings! So many weddings. My friends are so beautiful, and the bachelorette parties have been flowing. I've had some epic times and some equally epic hangovers, and I'm just so thrilled to have so many beautiful people in my life.

Travel! Travel has always been my creative joy-ride, leaving me with stories pouring from my fingertips and a heart full of gold, and being able to travel again is AWESOME. This year I've been to the low country in South Carolina (to welcome my 3rd decade), the rockies in Montana (man, elevation and I are a hot mess), and all around the epic state of Minnesota. I've run down midnight beaches, breathed in meadow-grass, rocked through rapids and weathered a few storms in my little, orange tent. I'm starting to think that tent just attracts the storms, whether they're supposed to be there or not.

Friends! I've met some wonderful, inspiring, sweet and beautiful people. I'm thrilled to have so many creative souls in my life. I don't know how I got so lucky.

AND SO MUCH MORE! I have so much to be grateful for. My family is healthy, my home is beautiful, my pets are adorable...let's be honest, life isn't too bad. And I'm ready to take this writing world by storm.

So, if you haven't already, please subscribe to my blog. I'll be posting without apology or remorse as I gear up for the publication process. ALSO, while I haven't been posting about it, I HAVE been doing stuff.

If you haven't been able to pick up a copy of my books yet, you can now borrow them from the Ely Library! I'm absolutely THRILLED to have them available there. And, for a little bit of an embarrassing story, I didn't have them available through the library before because I was getting lost in researching HOW to do it. Like, really lost. And, as a millennial, the thought of just calling and asking the librarians didn't even cross my mind until a few weeks ago. I emailed them and...literally, just brought them in. I'm sure it's different everywhere, but--ahem--I definitely was overthinking that process.

I'll be at DuluCon again this year! And, if the stars align, I will have Book 3 available for pre-order (the publication date at the moment is 11.11.22, and YES it's because I like the way the numbers add up). I'll also have some awesome new bookmarks, artwork, giveaways, and pizzazz for your perusal. Pizzazz, as always, is on the house.

OH! I can't believe I almost forgot. I also had a short story published in the AWESOME collection: Attack of the DuluCon Zombies. Reading this was so much fun, you should definitely pick up a copy. And you could get to know one of my newer characters, Miss Anabell Grigsby, the monster-hunting lady of my dreams. You can pick up a copy here.

I think that's all for the time being. Stay tuned for some fun giveaways, trivia, and SciFi madness.

Cheers!

KAW
